Four Tips to Deal with Worry -What the Baby Taught Me

“Behold. I am making all things new.” – Rev. 25:1

I’ve been so privileged to spend time with my granddaughter in this new year. The baby and God are teaching me a lot about coping with worry, anxiety and fear. So…Here’s my checklist!

Coping with Worry

…What the Baby Taught Me

1. Stay Close –

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you –James 4:8

I’ve been spending a lot of time holding my new baby girl.  We stick together. I also need to stick close to my Savior. -Enough of my frantic daily plunge! I’ve gotta keep close to Jesus in prayer and Bible Study. – I’ve also gotta remember, like my baby, Jesus is but a whisper breath away from me every moment.

2. Take time to feel the love –

I have loved you with an everlasting love. I have drawn you with loving kindness – Jeremiah 31:3

We are not alone! God’s love encompasses us if we’ve turned, let go  of our sins and fallen into God’s loving arms.  LOVE wraps us in warmth, just like baby’s swaddle blanket!

3. Nestle Near –

But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge…- Psalm 73:28

Nestling is different  from staying close – Nestling involves relaxing.  Nestling is falling into an embrace, resting in the cradle of God’s arms.  My baby sinks into Gran’s arm – cozy there.  Let’s stay cozy with Jesus in the same way.

4. Savor the Safety –

The Lord is my Light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of who shall I be afraid? – Psalm 27:1

I would die to protect my granddaughter. My granddaughter, in her baby way, trusts me to keep her safe. You and I also need to TRUST – Jesus already died for us.  No matter what happens…If we are HIS, we are SAFE.  Savor that.  Junk may be bowling us over, but If we’ve given everything to Jesus, nothing can truly defeat us, not even death.

Hey, guys! Remember the baby’s lessons!

Let’s rest in God’s safe arms.

  1. Laurie,
There is no better place to rest than His big, loving, gentle, safe arms!
If we could all be as trusting as the babies!
