Life’s Unfair…But God is still GOOD!

Life is unfair.  There. I’ve said it.  I know you don’t want to hear it, but, as I  travel into my seventieth year, I’ve gotta tell you to get used to disappointment.

You may have checked all the boxes, but you won’t necessarily win the prize. Two plus two, unfortunately, doesn’t always make four. What you think would be an even number has turned out to be odd.  You scratch your head and think,  “How am I gonna deal with this?”

Well…. Hmmm…

Here are seven tips to deal with life’s unfair moments (practice these 10 times each, and you’ll have my age!).

  1. Take a good look at your disappointment.

Don’t  push disappointment down or act like it never happened.  Step back to observe the loss. Shout the shout to God. Ask the questions. God can take it.

Don’t pretend nothing happened, but do understand God is with you in it. Tell others how God helps.

2. Don’t sit in your tragedy. Yes, you’ll be changed forever by tough times. You’ll be more pliable.  You’ll be more understanding and more compassionate. You’ll be more broken and, in the end, you’ll be more approachable.

But don’t sit in the graveyard of loss. Take Jesus’ hand and step out.

Fall into the loving arms of your Savior…Give your entire life and all its messes to Jesus. TRUST HIM!

3. Be kind to yourself.  Don’t  expect healing to happen quickly. Healing is a process.  Grief and healing come in waves. They wash over and pull you back-and-forth in joy and sadness. Just don’t get caught forever in the current.

God’s got something for you to do with life’s unfair moments.

4. Get help if you need it. Great Christian counselors and therapists can help you get out of the graveyard. You don’t have to figure out things alone.

5. Pray along the way. Prayers can be shouts…or silent pleas. No kneeling needed. Just talk to God about it. Then…observe His answers.

6. Plug in to outreach. Your pain will be your starting point. Your trial will be your testimony. Your loss will be part of your legacy.

When life’s unfair to you, my friend, you can still help others.

7. Remember the words of Jesus in John 16:33-

“I’ve told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I’ve overcome the world.”

Jesus overcomes life’s unfair moments and can actually make things new!

“Behold I make all things new.” – Revelation 21:5
