Darkness was deep, thick and encompassing.
You could dive in and float there, not knowing up or down, not knowing where you were or who was beside you.
Darkness was scary.

Then there was a flicker…a flash. It was like a candle attempting to light

or, maybe, a star flickering. I had to look closely.
The light grew brighter. Not a candle. Not a star.

A person. One person. The One.
Anyone who’s gone through tough times understands darkness.
Darkness is a lonely space.
It’s no fun to hang out there.
In life I cautiously move forward. The world may be dark, but the Light grows.
Jesus, kind and loving, is the Light of the world.
Even when darkness surrounds, His Light can burst through.

Jesus’ Love, pure and bright,
won’t be extinguished by opinion or attitude, mood or feeling.
Jesus brings warm Light when all else is cold and dark.
Draw close to Him, feel the warmth.
Run away. Cold runs with you.
Light seeks you out.
You can’t hide forever in darkness, focusing only on bad stuff,
unfair stuff or even sorrow.
Light stands right there with you.
Let Jesus in.
Let Jesus warm your heart and embrace you.
In a world with so much darkness, please don’t miss the LIGHT.
He shines in the manger.
He shines in the star.
He shines for the downcast with no status, big job, wealth or reputation.

He shines for the rich, the wise, the kings, and, especially, the curious.
Jesus shines for the losers. The hurt.
Jesus shines for mistake makers. He shines for questioners.
Jesus shines for agnostics and atheists.
Jesus shines because everyone needs His Light.
Go ahead. Try to run away. Jesus still shines.
Run into the darkness if you want to, but Light will always be at your back.
Turn around.
It’s time.
Christmas has come.
Christ has come.
What’ve you got to lose?
Turn around.
Light has come to the world.
Embrace Jesus
Take it from a kid who’s had some experience in darkness.
Don’t miss the Light when He comes your way.
“The people living in darkness have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”
– Matt 4:16.
