Bumpy. Saltwater spray. Wind. Yech!
The Type A Lady and her bad back hold on for dear life! We can’t take it!
No Wake Zones are my favorite. Those official signs tell all boat drivers they MUST creep through the area creating no waves with their motors.
Even big power boats are made meek and mild by a No Wake Zone. Haha!
When my little boat slows down. I savor the water views. I don’t worry about splashes. -Who cares about speed? Type A Lady loves to just drift a bit.
Let’s Shift To Life….
I’m afraid I speed along at a frantic pace sometimes. Like my boat, the Type A Lady needs to slow down. I’ve gotta enter God’s No Wake Zone and settle down with my Savior.
Here’s my checklist for slowing down:
1. Walk don’t run.
“Slow down. Take a deep breath. What’s the hurry? Why wear yourself out? Just what are you after anyway?” – Jeremiah 2:25
Try parking further away and walking across the lot to your destination. How about getting outside during lunch break? Get some fresh air. Take a walk.
2.Take the byways not the highways.
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him…”
– Psalm 37:7
– Do you always have to take the shortest GPS route? It’s OK to avoid the highways sometimes. You can find the neatest things driving a little slower on the backroads!
3. Talk don’t text
“and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” – Hebrews 10:24-25
Face-to-face ‘I can read your looks better than your typed words’ conversations are so important. It helps to look at each other while we’re talking. (I especially need this with my long-distance kids.) FaceTime is better than text, but Table Time over a cup of coffee is the BEST!
“Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!” – Luke 12:27-28
-How many times have I missed lovely views because of my darting, distracted eyes? When I slow down, I see a lot more neat stuff!
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” – Matthew 6:33-34
– This is a big one for the Type A. In the boat, I’m often so busy bracing myself for bumps I miss the dolphins.
In life, I worry so much I often miss the magic of the moment.
I’m shifting my motor to low speed right now.
Matter of fact, I’m taking a moment to just drift and thank God for everything I see. Want to join me?
– Matthew 11:28
