Friday Fun: Undercover Christian or Laurie the Spy

I’m pretty good at covering up. You wouldn’t know to look at me, but sometimes. I’m an Undercover Christian.

Oh, sure. I’m good at churchy stuff and Christian bloggy stuff and singin for Jesus stuff, but, in certain places, my faith goes undercover.

Take, for example, a teeth-gritting, jaw-setting, in-your-face interaction with my hubby today. I was annoyed. Everyone could tell. The one thing they couldn’t tell was: I’m a Christian. I didn’t look like I had one iota of Christian forgiveness running through my veins. This was a pretty good disguise.

At times, I’m an undercover Christian. I’m ashamed to say it.

Are you?

I may slip into covert operations in a traffic jam. I’m impatient, flustered and, OK…cranky.

All too often,  I slip into my disguise when I try to blend in with a crowd. I’m cool…(sure)  After all, maybe I get tired of being called the Bible Lady.

At other times, I’m a silent spy, not taking a stand when I see injustice or insult. I slip into the shadows. -Pretty sneaky of me.

You may not notice my undercover Christianity, but God sees it. Like 007, He hunts me down and tells me to STOP hiding:

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;  nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Matt 5:14-16

I think I need to share the LIGHT.  Time to blow my cover and step out!

  1. I go undercover to many times, too.
The Holy Spirit corrects us and we go to Christ to forgive us. He is there waiting with open arms.
